In establishing the World Day of Consecrated Life in 1997, Pope John Paul II gave three reasons:
- to praise and give thanks to God for the gift of consecrated life to the Christian Community
- to promote an understanding of consecrated life and its multiplicity of Charisms
- to be an occasion for consecrated persons to renew their commitment and fervour of their offering of themselves to God
On this day Marist Sisters join in celebrating with the whole Church. This day is another reminder to us that we have been “called by a gracious choice” and so we join with Mary, whose name we bear, in giving praise and thanks to God for our Marist Vocation.
