Marist Sisters in New Zealand gathered recently for the Jubilee celebrations for Srs Antonia(70 years), Juliana(60 years), Francine(50 years) and Iulia(25 years). The celebrations began with a joyful parish Mass at Mt Albert. Fr Grahame Connolly sm, Mons. Brendan Daly and parish priest, Fr Sateki Raas, presided and family members attended. Fr Grahame spoke of the significance of gratitude in our life.
After a delicious meal at a Kumeu restaurant it was back to Mt Albert for the opening of gifts and reading of congratulatory messages.
We give thanks to God for our Marist Jubilarians who have served a total of two hundred and five years of Marist commitment.
Marist Sisters in Australia gathered recently to celebrate 210 years of faithful Marist commitment. Srs Mary Farrelly and Gemma Pearson celebrated their Golden Jubilee while Srs Marie Clarke and Veronica Taylor celebrated their Diamond Jubilee.
Fr Gary Reynolds sm led the Eucharistic Thanksgiving in the Woolwich College Chapel for which music was provided by Marist lay friends, Margaret Woods, Anita Fry and Suzie Whitaker. We were joined too by some family members who enjoyed the chance to mingle afterwards over delicious refreshments at Marian House. All agreed we have much to thank God for in these four Marist women!
On Sunday 11th July a Marist celebration in Australia and one in New Zealand celebrated 150 years of Marist Commitment for three Marist Sisters. In New Zealand Sr. Margaret Vaney’s Golden Jubilee was celebrated with a joyful Mass in the Mt Albert Chapel celebrated by her brother, Fr. Neil Vaney SM. This was followed by a meal together during which there were speeches acknowledging Margaret’s life and ministry, and stories from communities of which she had been a part.
Marist Sisters in Australia gathered at Woolwich to celebrate the Golden Jubilees of Srs. Anthony Walker and Margaret Sharma. Mass was celebrated in the chapel by Fr Tom Fulcher SM. Afternoon tea in Marian House continued the celebration and acknowledgement of years of faithful service for each of these sisters.
We congratulate our Sisters on this happy occasion of their 50th anniversary of Marist Religious Profession.
