Srs Cath Lacey and Mary Farrelly travelled the 600kms from Barcaldine to Rockhampton to participate in the ordination of their new bishop, Michael McCarthy. The main celebrant was the Archbishop of Brisbane, Mark Coleridge. Mary says: “We were particularly happy to see Fr. Brian (Heenan) who, as Fr. Michael’s predecessor, had welcomed us to the Diocese in 2006 and supported us until his mandatory retirement at the age of 75.”  At the conclusion of the ordination ceremony a representative from each of the various Diocesan groups was able to greet the new Bishop.  Sr Mary welcomed Bishop Michael on behalf of the Marist Sisters.
