During the Regional Chapter of the Region of Asia-Pacific in January 2008, an Action Plan was developed. It was recognised that this was a living document and so, from time to time, would need to be evaluated and amended in the light of changing circumstances.
In July 2009 at the Plenary Regional Council Meeting of Asia-Pacific held in Sydney, time was taken to evaluate our plan, to acknowledge what had been achieved, to consider where to focus our attention in the next number of years and so develop a new Action Plan. This was done in the light of the call given through our General Chapter Documents and after listening to and considering reports from the Regional Leader, Region Bursar and each of the Sector Leaders. The plan identifies five Key Areas on which we as a Region wish to direct our focus:
Shaping Our Regional Identity
We Marist Sisters of the Region of Asia-Pacific continue to shape our Regional identity. We desire to respond authentically to our Marist call and our mission of being Mary’s presence in our Church and world. Our community life and ministries are vital expressions of this.
Wine for a Thirsting World
Following the example of Mary at Cana we are invited to be attentive and respond to what our General Chapter identified as being among the greatest needs of our time – the Thirst for Meaning, the Movement of Peoples, Reconciliation, Care of the Earth.
Collaboration for Mission
We Marist Sisters of the Region of Asia-Pacific desire to collaborate in mission within and beyond the Region. Our new governance structure provides new potential for mission and calls us to greater availability.
Formation
It is vital that we Marist Sisters have appropriate and effective formation to enable us to engage fully in our life and mission. We value ongoing human and spiritual formation and recognise the necessity of preparation for particular roles and tasks.
Stewardship
Good stewardship acknowledges that all is gift and asks that we be mindful of the sacredness of all creation. In the spirit of our charism, we Marist Sisters of the Region of Asia-Pacific seek to live in our world with integrity, humility and gratitude and to put our resources at the service of mission.
